Questions

Is the IELTS Writing checker free?

Yes. You can check two answers a day without an account. Sign up free to check as many as you like and see each answer rewritten a band higher.

How accurate is the band score?

It marks your answer against the public IELTS band descriptors for Task Response (or Task Achievement), Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. It is a close estimate to practise with, not an official score.

Which tasks can I check?

Task 2 essays (Academic and General Training) and General Training Task 1 letters. Academic Task 1, which describes a chart, is coming later.

How long should my answer be?

At least 250 words for Task 2 and 150 words for Task 1. Shorter answers lose marks in the exam, and the checker marks them the same way.
