Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
This policy explains what Vaboo (run by TCHR Labs, “we”) collects about you, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run Vaboo, and we don’t sell your personal data.
1. What we collect
- Account: your name, email, sign-in details (or your Google or Apple sign-in), and photo if you add one.
- Learning profile: what you’re learning, your level and level-check results, goals, practice history, mistakes, review cards, streaks and leagues.
- AI chats and calls: the messages you write and, on voice calls, your voice (processed live to understand you and write subtitles) and the transcript we keep for your call summary. We don’t keep audio recordings of AI calls. Speaking practice recordings are sent for transcription and not stored.
- Lessons, classes and messages: bookings, messages with tutors, lesson notes, live class participation, ratings and reports.
- Tutors: your application, profile, photos, intro video, availability, and payout details (held by Stripe, not us). For an AI twin, the material you give us to create it.
- Payments: what you bought and when. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and devices: pages and features used, approximate location from your IP address (country or city), device and browser type, notification tokens, and error reports.
2. Why we use it
- To run Vaboo: your account, lessons, payments, messages, calls and practice.
- To personalise learning: practice written for your level, reviews of your mistakes, progress and weekly summaries.
- To keep Vaboo safe: preventing fraud and abuse, handling reports, kids’ mode.
- To fix problems and improve Vaboo, using usage statistics and error reports.
- To send you notifications and emails about your account, lessons and progress (you can turn these off in Settings).
3. Who helps us run Vaboo
We share data with these providers only as needed for them to do their job for us:
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, file storage and some AI processing.
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions and tutor payouts.
- AI providers that power the AI tutors: xAI (voice conversations), Groq and Cloudflare Workers AI (writing replies, exercises, summaries and transcriptions), Simli (the AI tutors’ animated faces), Replicate and D-ID (tutor intro videos).
- Cloudflare RealtimeKit: live video and audio in lessons and classes.
- Resend: email. Apple, Google and web push services: notifications.
- PostHog: product analytics. Sentry: error reports.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. We also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety.
4. What others can see
Tutors’ profiles are public. Your name and photo are shown to tutors you book or message, and in live classes you join (you can hide yourself from class lists in Settings). Leagues show your name to other players in your league.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account (Settings), we delete your profile, learning data, messages, uploads and payout account, except what we must keep by law (such as payment records for tax), which we keep only as long as required. Backups are overwritten within a few weeks.
6. Children
Vaboo isn’t for children under 13 on their own. A parent or guardian may set up an account for a child and should turn on kids’ mode. If you believe a child has an account without a parent’s consent, contact us and we’ll delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and update your profile and learning details in Settings.
- Turn off push notifications and emails in Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK or EU GDPR, or Japan’s APPI), you may also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email us to do so; we’ll reply within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (language, theme, currency) and measure how Vaboo is used. We don’t use advertising cookies.
9. Changes and contact
We’ll update this policy when what we do changes, and tell you in the app or by email if the change is significant. Questions or requests: hello@vaboo.app.
